He's a rollin' machine!

Devin finaly rolled over from his back to his tummy! He's been "trying" for quite a while now. Well, I dunno if he's really been trying. I think if he had known where it would land him, he would never learn to do it! (He HATES being in his tummy!) He'll get half-way there and then roll back flat on his back. Well, this morning, I put him down for a nap and not unusual, he didn't fall asleep right away. But then he cries seemed to escalate and I thought, well maybe he is hungry. So I go in his room and there he is, crying on his tummy. Well, I feed him and change his diaper and put him back to bed. Soon enough he is super crying again. So I go in and check on him and there he is, on his tummy. So I run out to get the camera and when I get back in the room, he rolls onto his back. So, I put his blankets on him, turn on his mobile and leave the leave. Pretty soon, he's crying again. This time I go in the room armed with my camera and sure enough, he's screaming while on his tummy. SO I snap the picture and then pick him up, kinda laughing that he's freaking out so much. After all, he does know how to roll onto his back!) Well, he starts laughing with me! Crazy kid! And he just did it again! Guess he won't be taking a nap anytime soon! Which means I am probably in for one cranky day. Devin has now been awake for almost 3 hours and he usually doesn't last more than 1 1/2-2. Oh boy!
Even though you can't tell, he is crying pretty good!

Laughing with mommy!

Hi, Welcome to the Ward! Here, have 3 callings!

Yeah, so we have been in our new ward for probably almost 2 months now. The second Sunday in January we had Stake Conference, where our Bishop was called as the new stake president. This past Sunday we had Ward Conference and finally got a new bishopric called. So, for a few weeks there, our Bishop was also our Stake President. How daunting! So, he was quite busy and didn't get a chance to meet with us as new members until about 2 weeks ago. Then, not the most recent Sunday, but the one before that, I got a call asking me to meet with a member of the Bishopric next Sunday. So, I obviously knew a calling was coming. And I had a feeling of what it might be. So, I go in and meet with the first counselor. And sure enough, I got called to be the ward chorister, meaning I'll be leading the music in Sacrament Meeting. (That's what I was doing in the ward me and Morian met in; it's how I got him to notice me!) But, that's not all I will be doing. I was also called to be the music coordinator, which means I get to pick all the songs we sing in Sacrament Meeting. But wait! That's not all! I also got called to be the choir director. Um, when was the last time I ever went to ward choir? Oh yeah, in high school, b/c the boy in my ward I had a crush on sang in the choir and I think I only went once or twice. So, hmmm... This'll be interesting. And I get to start next Sunday! Oh joy!

Lizard Baby

Devin got this green and blue striped full-body coat thingy from his Aunt Kayley and Uncle Paul for Christmas. I was bundling him in it to take a short walk to check the mail this afternoon. Quick side note: sometimes we call him "Baby Godzilla" or "Baby Lizard" b/c when the middle part that zips up is zipped down it reminds us of a tail. Another side note: One time Morian, Devin, and I were taking a walk and Devin was wearing this suit and some little kid came up to us and said, "That's not a baby!" Of course not, silly! It's a Lizard baby! So, as he was getting bundled, I starting saying, in a sing-singy voice, "Lizard baby, lizard baby." And Devin totally stuck his tongue out. And kept doing it, in and out, in and out. So I grabbed the camera and got some great shots and even took a fun video. hehe! What a silly Lizard Baby!

The Bumbo

So, a few of my friends gave their babies this bumbo chair for Christmas. I thought, what a good idea! Devin is always trying to sit up and can't quite do it on his own yet. So, I looked it up at Target and Babies R Us and thought, There is no way I can afford one of those brand new. So I started looking at the classifieds at KSL.com. There was a decent amount being sold, but they sold really fast. So I had to keep checking back everyday. I finally found a couple that were decently priced. But of course, they got sold before I had the chance to look at 'em. So, Sunday night, we go to our friends Mike and Annie's house to watch the SuperBowl. Devin was being cranky, so I took him into their spare bedroom (soon to be baby's room) to try and quiet him down, hopefully to sleep. And there is a bumbo chair. I talked to Annie about it and she said I could try putting Devin in it. So I gave it a shot. He sat there, probably wondering what in the world he was sitting in. Not to mention that it's purple. Good thing he's a baby and doesn't care about that stuff right now! He did okay in it for a while, but then he seemed more interested in standing on in than sitting in it. As we got ready to go home, Annie said we could borrow it. After all, she hans't even had her baby yet and to use one of these chairs you need to be able to hold your head up on your own, so they won't be using it for a while. So I was so grateful for Annie's generosity and the fact that I was about to save $20 or so. The next day, one of the first things I did with Devin was put him in the bumbo chair and give him a toy to play with. He does well for about 2-3 minutes MAX and then he arches his back, trying to get out. When I pull him out, his chubby little thighs kind of catch on the leg openings on the chair. Ouch! Now, only a day later, he starts squirming and fussing as soon as I put him in. REALLY glad I didn't buy one now! Guess he'll just hafta learn how to sit up all on his own. And he actually can do it, just not for too long. And sometimes as he starts to lean forwards or backwards he can catch himself and sit himself back up straight. But, falling to the side is another story. Course, one time he did go forward and totally face planted! If only his hands/arms were stronger, he coulda caught himself and been in crawling position! Someday!
Thinking he likes it

Sitting up all by himself!
