3 year check-up and pre-school

So, to go along with turning 3, Devin his 3-year check-up with the doctor. He got to stand on a regular scale (weighing in at 30.6 lbs) and up against a regular tape measure thing on a wall (measuring in at 36.4 inches), got  his blood pressure taken (something like 90/50), and had a vision test. He was such a big boy! I wondered how he would do with the vision test since he's still learning on communicating and didn't know all the signs on the paper he was looking at. But he did really well! So, he is in about the 30th percentile for both height and weight, so a little small, but for his height he is the perfect weight! When the doctor was checking his ears he totally quoted the Disney version of Robin Hood: "Hiss, stop hissing in my ear!" The doctor only understood ear but I got what he was saying and it was pretty awesome!
Also in conjunction with turning 3, Devin no longer gets home visits from a speech therapist. But he did qualify for pre-school so now he goes twice a week for 2.25 hours each day. He even gets to ride a school bus! His first day was kind of crazy b/c we didn't think he would be able to get transportation soon enough and suddenly, bus drivers calling, saying they were going to be picking him up and dropping him off at certain times, so it was kind of a dash to get everything ready. We didn't have a backpack for him yet, but I had one of the backpack style diaper bags from the hospital, so we just used that and it works well. Maybe for Christmas he can get a real backpack! Anyways! We told him he was going to be going on a bus and he kept saying he was gonna ride the choo-choo train. Close!
So, here he is, in front of his bus! What a big boy!
All buckled up and ready to go to school!
He wasn't scared or nervous or anything! He was so excited for his first bus ride and to go to school! He even waved bye to us!
Mackenzie, on the other hand, was a little nervous about the big yellow thing that took her brother away!

Happy Birthday to Devin

So, Friday (Sept. 16) was Devin's 3rd birthday! I can't believe how fast he is growing up!
Devin has been on a Harry Potter kick lately, so we thought it would be fun to have a Harry Potter-themed cake. I looked online for inspiration for making a cake, but I concluded pretty quickly that there was just no way I would be able to make him a cake that looked even a little good and have him know what it was! So we decided to splurge and get him a cake from the Target Bakery with Harry Potter toys on it. We went with the Hogwarts castle with little Harry, Ron, and Hermione figurines. He was super excited when he saw it!

What a great smile! (I know his head looks a little weird..must have been the camera angle...)
Please excuse our singing! We had no one to drown us out! hehe! Devin did a great job blowing out his candles this year!

Devin then opened his presents from us-
a Harry Potter wand

and a broomstick (anyone know if this is a Nimbus 2000 or Firebolt?!)
 Off he flies!
He had to get some dueling in...
 Expelliarmus!
My mom stopped by later in the day with more presents!
He got some new clothes
I had to include a few pictures of this cute little girl, to show that she was around too!

Devin also got some wooden train sets from my mom...he was super super excited about those and wanted them opened right away! And he gets super mad if Kenzie even crawls in the direction of his trains! hehe!
Maren also stopped by. She also had some clothes for him and a pack of hot wheels. Devin really like those and kept calling them his "Happy Day cars!"
Patty (Morian's mom) came by the next day with even more presents for Devin!
He liked this shirt with the dinosaur on it. I'm pretty sure he roared right after I took this picture!
Monkey pajamas- of course he had to put them right on, over his clothes and here he is making his monkey sound, which is pretty hilarious!
He got sidewalk chalk, other chalk, and dry erase crayons (who knew, right?!)
He got a baseball and bat...(which has has no idea what to do with!)
Kenzie knows though! Maybe she'll be a pitcher like her Mommy and Aunts were!
I love her face in this picture!
And lastly, he got this art easel. That's what the crayons and little chalk were for. Pretty cool stuff!

And, as you can see, Kenzie had fun crawling through it!
So, I would say it was a good birthday for Devin! We are so glad he is our little boy!
Happy Birthday Devin!

Chocolate Donut

So, Morian went grocery shopping the other day and then had to go back to return a couple items. He took Devin with him. When they got back, Devin had a bag with 2 donuts- a maple bar for me and a chocolate bar for him. He got right down to eating that thing and enjoyed every single bite! And then he got mad at me for eating mine! He said it was his- no way buckaroo!
Here he is showing me his messy fingers:

Enjoying the Great Outdoors

We have this little ditch with running water (usually!) by our house that the kids like to play by. Devin (and I) throw rocks into the water; the bigger the rock the better for Devin! Kenzie likes to sit on grab at rocks and dirt and sticks and then eat them! She'll even crawl around; I don't know how she does that, seeing as our driveway is rocks, not cement.

Just relaxin'

This is how Devin decided to watch Harry Potter the other day...
Can anyone guess which movie it is?

Pony tails and Pig Tails

So, I was looking at Kenzie's hair the other day and got to thinking; "She has a decent amount of hair on the top of her head...I wonder if it would fit in a ponytail." So I gave it a shot. I think she liked it!

Sweet Baby Sleeps

What a cutie! This is how she sleeps most of the time, on her tummy, with her legs tucked under her. Sometimes her bum is totally sticking up in the air! hehe!

Awesome Hair

This is what happens to Devin's hair when he goes down slides- pretty sweet!
