FAMILY PICTURES- October 11

MBASA helped put together a family picture day where budding photographers could practice their skills and families in the program could get some free family pictures taken.
(I actually took these ones of the kids by themselves because our photographer didn't have time to do individual shots like I would have liked since they were short a photographer.)

THE PINK SERIES HALF MARATHON- October 11

So, way back in like June of 2014, when I signed up to run the Freedom Run 10K, I also signed up to run a half marathon! It was called The Pink Series, a ladies only run up in Park City. I'd toyed with the idea of running a half marathon for about a year and finally worked up the courage to do it! (Finding a coupon code to save money on the registration helped!)
Unfortunately, I developed stress fractures in both of my feet while I was training for the 10K and had to take 6 weeks off from running (and basically any kind of cardio activity). That was hard! I didn't think I was going to be able to race at all. But, when I hit the 6 week mark and my feet were  mysteriously not hurting anymore at all, I decided to start training again. I had 8 weeks to get ready.

JAKER'S PUMPKIN PATCH- October 7

Down in Springville there is this place called Jaker's Pumpkin Patch. They've got a huge pumpkin patch, to be sure, but they have more! Like a giant corn pit! And some animals. And a hay bale maze. And a hay bale tower. Lots of fun to be had!

BYU "RIVER" WALK- October 5

BYU has a nice little stream that the kids liked to walk along and throw things like giant rocks and pine cones into the water.

MBASA SOCCER

MBASA soccer once again happened! This time though, Devin and Mackenzie were on different teams and both were a lot more confident in actually going after the ball and kicking it!
Warning: LOTS of photos!!

FREE MUSEUM DAY- September 27

Smithsonian Magazine sponsors a free museum day each fall. I was able to get tickets for the Children's Discovery Museum at the Gateway. My mom was able to come with us since Morian had class. The kids had a lot of fun!
Mackenzie was delighted by the air tube. You could make a paper airplane and then put it in the tube and watch it fly. She spent a lot of time there!

FALL CARNIVAL AT WESTRIDGE- September 25

Devin was really excited to go to the fall carnival at his school. Morian wasn't able to come, so I braved the crowds and the craziness with Devin and Mackenzie all by myself. And boy was it crazy!
They got to jump in some bounce houses!

LEGO PARTY PREP

So, I made the invitations I sent out to friends. I made them look like Lego bricks using different colored construction paper cut into rectangles and placing same colored circles on them.
Inside I had come up with the invite wording based on several samples I found online:
Devin is turning 6!
Let's celebrate with a Lego party!

DEVIN IS 6- September

Devin got have his first "friend" birthday party when he turned 6. We pretty much just invited all the neighborhood kids he had been playing with since we moved in the previous year, plus one from church/kindergarten and another from preschool, as well as his cousins. It was nice of everyone to come and be there for him, even the boys who had moved to a different neighborhood and the older girls.
Devin was very much into Legos and so he wanted a Lego party. We started off the party by coloring your own Lego man, being as creative as you wanted!
Then we divided into 2 teams and had a relay race with Lego pieces on spoons.

SUPERHERO PLAY DATE- September 10

MBASA planned a great play date for kids with a superhero theme. They could come wearing capes and then they made their own masks. They even had a superhero scene they could get their pictures taken in front of to look like they were flying!

KANGAROO ZOO- September 6

I honestly can't remember why we went to Kangaroo Zoo, but Devin and Mackenzie had fun running around with their cousin, Glenn!

MACKENZIE GOES TO PRESCHOOL- September 2

Mackenzie got to go to preschool this year! She was pretty excited about it, and a little nervous! She went to head start, just like Devin did the year before.

VAN GOGH TO PLAY DOUGH- September 2

The Museum of Art (MOA) at BYU has these art programs for kids called Van Gogh to Play Dough, where the kids get to learn about art and then participate in their own art projects. We first went outside and saw the sculptures that are around the building and moved our bodies. Then we came inside where the kids got to make little creatures out of Styrofoam balls and pipe cleaners, paint with their feet, and make CD case faces.

MICKEY'S MUSIC FESTIVAL- September 1

My cousin used to perform with Disney Live and she was able to get us free tickets to Mickey's Music Festival. It was a fun show with lots of singing and dancing!
(I actually also bought discounted tickets before I knew about getting them for free so Mom, Dad, Kayley, and Glenn were also able to come and we all just paid a really cheap price for our tickets.)

KADEN'S BIRTHDAY- September 1

Morian's nephew, Kaden (his sister Angie's son) turned 3 in August and we got together with them on Sept. 1 to celebrate his birthday.
