Move and Groove

I feel like anything we do now is through MBASA! That's a good thing, right?!
They've set up a 4-week program for kids called "Move and Groove." It's a half hour of dance and a half hour of tumbling. Devin and Mackenzie are in different classes b/c they separate them by ages, so the first day I was going back and forth between the two to watch them. I discovered that Kenzie did much better at participating when she didn't know I was there, so after that first day, I've left her alone so she'll actually dance and stuff!
"Once there was a snowman, tall tall tall!"
"In the sun he melted, small small small!"

Bridal Veil Falls

A homework assignment Morian had was to get his picture taken in front of the changing leaf colors. So we decided to take a hike up to Bridal Veil Falls with the kids, let them have their first experience with a hike and a waterfall. It was a bit on the cool side, but that didn't seem to bother the kids too much!

Soccer

Another MBASA-sponsored activity for the kids is soccer. It's just one day a week during the month of October. They practice for half an hour and then play a game for about 20-30 min. This is the first time Devin and Mackenzie have ever played soccer and I thought it might be something fun for them to do. Too bad the first day was super cold and rainy!
Kick it Mackenzie!
 Good trap Devin!

BYU vs. Utah

For the BYU football game against the University of Utah, the MBA program had a tail-gating party sponsored by Kellog's. They provided prizes for the games we played, as well as lunch. Devin actually won a big gift bag filled with cereal, fruit snacks, and granola bars! here was even face painting, so the kids got their faces painted!
Devin chose BYU on one cheek and a cougar paw print on the other.

Trip to the Fire Station

On September 20, Devin's preschool sponsored a time for the kids to see a fire station and learn about fire safety.

Princess/Pirate Park Play Date

How abut that alliteration?!
Anyways! An MBASA-sponsored activity for the kids was a play date at the park for our little pirates and princesses. They had materials there so you could make crowns and pirate hats, people brought snacks to share, of course there was the playground equipment to play on. It was a beautiful day!
Devin and Mackenzie had fun decorating their hat/crown!

Devin Had a Birthday...

...Shout Hooray!
This year, Devin turned 5! Holy smokes!
We did his birthday in 2 celebrations in the same day (Sept. 14- 2 days before his actual birthday)- one with Morian's family and one with mine.
His cake preference kept changing but the latest one was Lightning McQueen, so that's what we went with.

Grad Student BBQ

On Sept. 11, there was a new grad student bbq. Food was from Burgers Supreme (super yummy!) and there was a bounce house and balloons for the kids. We saw some pretty awesome things made out of balloons while standing in the forever long line! Devin right away wanted an octopus and never changed his mind. At first Kenzie wanted a Rapunzel, but then right before it was her turn, she changed her mind.
She wanted a sword instead! Since that was such a small item, I asked if she could get a helmet too. So she became a Viking!
I love how the balloons seem to glow in the dark! Awesome!

(These 2 pictures aren't so great b/c I was using my phone camera and it was getting dark.)

First Day of School

Because Devin was born in the middle of September, he missed the deadline for starting Kindergarten this year by just a couple weeks. So he is doing Pre-School this year instead at Mountainland Headstart. He goes Monday through Thursday in the afternoon. I think he is having fun and learning new things, even if he won't tell me what he did in school! (All he seems able to remember is what he had for snack, which happens at the end of the day!)
It was a bit bright outside, so we took some pictures inside too!
Coincidentally, Morian started school on the same day. He'd had 2 weeks of orientation previously, but this was his first day of actual classes for the MBA program at BYU.

It's kind of weird having Devin gone so much during the day and week. But it gives me and Kenzie some one-on-one time, so that's good!

Thanksgiving Point Gardens

In August, Thanksgiving Point does $2 Tuesdays. The past few years, we have gone together with our friend Kristy and her sons Apollo and Earnest. It was a nice day and it was fun to see the kids running around together!

Camping

One of the things that I was most looking forward to with Morian getting his MBA from BYU was MBASA- the MBA spouse association. They have a bunch of activities throughout the years and I felt like it would be a great way for me to meet new people, for me and the kids. It's only been a couple months and it has certainly proved to be true!
One of the first activities we took part in was a camp-out. This was our first ever time camping with the kids (okay actually, this was mine and Morian's first time ever camping together in 7+ years of marriage!). We figured it would be crazy but wanted to give it a try. Even though it had been rainy almost the whole day, we stuck with it. It rained a little on us during dinner but cleared up after. And we were the only first years who actually spent the night! Go us! The kids had a blast and the night actually wasn't too bad!
Here's Devin eating his first ever toasted marshmallow! (It was a night of first evers!)
He had told me he wanted a s'more, but then refused to eat it when I tried to give it to him, but he was just fine with the giant marshmallow!
Kenzie refused to eat either one!
 Pretty messy!

The Living Planet Aquarium

Shortly before we moved down to Provo, I found out that I had won 4 tickets to The Living Planet Aquarium. I had until the end of August to use them because they would be closing their doors soon after that in order to move to a bigger facility.
Though she isn't featured in any of these pictures, my mom came with me and the kids (while Morian spent the day in orientation). It was fun!
