This year, July 24th, Pioneer Day, landed in the middle of the week. Because of Morian's work schedule, he had the day of and the day before off. We decided to go visit his grandparents up in Logan.
On the 23rd, we went and got ice cream and then dinner (yes, we had dessert first!) at Carl's Jr and let the kids play on the play place there.

On the 24th, we went to the
for the
We got to take a horse-pulled wagon ride.
The kids made tissue paper flowers.
Devin got to take a turn milking a cow.
(Kenzie wanted nothing to do with that cow!)
We took a train ride.
The kids got to ride some ponies.
Devin was a pro and loved every minute of it!
Kenzie was a little more nervous and had like a death grip on my hand the whole time!
We tried playing some pioneer games.
Kenzie couldn't figure it out and that bummed her!
If you look at the people in the background, that is how the game is supposed to be played. But, as you can see, Devin and Morian had a different idea for those long sticks! Boys!
We did some cow pie tossing (well, not me but the others all tried!).
Devin and Mackenzie got another ride on the ponies.
It was such a hot day! While waiting for Morian's grandparents to meet back up with us, we drank a lot of water. And Kenzie spilled a lot of water! She told me, "I'm all sweaty!"
We also ate homemade ice cream, went panning for gold, participated in a watermelon seed spitting contest, wrote with a feather pen and ink, and just had a good day!

What fun activities! I hope Kenzie learns to really enjoy riding horses. Were they real "cowpies"?
