This is the scene that greeted me when I got the hospital Wednesday morning! What a difference from how I left him! Awake and sitting up watching TV!
He was still pretty miserable though. :(
He was still pretty tired and slept a lot. But no breathing tube! Just oxygen through the nose. And the feeding tube and catheter. But he actually got up to go poop (which, unfortunately was straight liquid diarrhea- TMI, I know!). He couldn't stand on his own and could barely hold himself up on the toilet. He kept asking for milk and water, but he wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything yet. He looked slightly less puffy, but he was still considered fluid-positive. He was still in the ICU and couldn't move back upstairs until they had weaned him off most of the oxygen he was currently on.
He seemed to be getting a bit of a rash again on his arms and a little on his back (but it didn't last long).
Poor kid was still doing a lot of coughing. At one point, he had a major coughing fit and then he stopped. Suddenly, this thick, mucous-y, brown/yellow stuff just started streaming out. It was gross. Poor boy!
During the night, the nurses came in and said we had to move Devin to a different room because they were getting a new patient and needed his room. Since Devin wasn't contagious or anything, he could be safely moved to the Cardiac ICU, just around the corner, basically. But it was more in the middle of things and he didn't have a fully enclosed room; the room next to his was only separated by a curtain. So it was a lot harder for both of us to sleep. They were able to lower his oxygen on Thursday and planned to move him back upstairs on Friday as long as he tolerated the less oxygen well. He was able to start drinking liquids, but anything more than that caused him to throw up.
